Nature SCHOOL (L.E.O.T.C. EDUCATION)

The Nature School is Natureland Zoo's Learning Experiences Outside The Classroom (LEOTC) education programme supported by the Ministry of Education. Our on-site, registered teachers provide interactive learning experiences for students ranging from New Entrants to Year 13.

Curriculum-linked Lessons

Our teachers develop a customised programme to meet the different requirements of each school group. The programme is designed to link with topics that students are studying at school and meets the objectives of the New Zealand Curriculum.

Popular study areas include Adaptations, Classification, Endangered Species, and Animal Environments. Programmes can be developed to fulfil your requirements in any year level or area of the Curriculum.

There are several scheduled feeding times that your class can enjoy, as well as special encounters that can be arranged for your group.

We recommend you plan to spend at least four hours for a visit. This may include self-guided time in the afternoon.

Natureland Zoo

We provide a wonderful educational environment offering many hands on experiences that cannot be replicated in the classroom and we welcome suggestions for activities from all teachers.

Pre-booking

Bookings are essential and we recommend you book in with our Educators as early as possible to ensure your preferred date is available.

There is no limit on the number of students in a visiting school group. However, smaller groups allow students more opportunity to participate and better access to the Educators to ask questions, which will enhance the educational value of the visit.
